neil wilson design
http://www.neilwilsondesign.co.uk/frame.htm
I began looking into placements and after several companies I came across neil wilson design, I liked the way he worked and the final outcomes he had so decided to apply for his company, unfortunately he did not like the standard of my work and decided to reject my application. for me this was a kick up the backside i needed, aswell as making me feel a little low about myself it spurred me onto to produce better work and i have now began applying for other placements

The forth newcastle
We were given another live brief, this time it was the forth hotel in newcastle upon tyne. WE were given a budget of roughly 100k to refurbish the interior of the pub. we had a client meeting at the site and took notes on what the client desired. The initial idea would be it would be competetion and the bet idea would be given a prize this gave an extra incentive to the project. for the interior i chose a utilitarian themed style to go with what i thought was an already nice interior. i receieved good marks for my idea and think if it was chosen would have worked well for the pub.
cafe project
For this project we were giving a live brief and this entailed redesigning an old hexham post office into a new cafe. we had a sight visit and met up with the client, we were given two weeks to come up with a final design of which 5 people ideas would be chose. I was one of the 5 people whos work was chosen. for me it was as successful as we all hope as the client left with our design and took it upon her self to do her own version. hopefully this is not what the future will be like for future projects.

My overall year.
Since joining my FD Interior Degree course I personally think I have developed my skills well, I still have issues with a few areas but I plan to improve them over the coming summer. Those issues are in Photoshop and illustrator I actually feel as though I can use these software but not to the ability I would like I know the presentation of my work is vital to showing the quality of my work and to show how professional I can be with it. My S.W.O.T analysis has also helped my progress in my course because it allowed me to figure out what I believed to be my Strengths and Weaknesses so I could then work on improving my weaknesses rather than keep showing the best of my strengths, for the opportunities section I believe that a placement would widen my experience in this sector of work, I have gained quite a lot of confidence in myself in the form of verbal presentation something I would actually quite like to do at a professional level I feel I get my ideas and designs across better to people talking through my work rather than handing it to someone with a report for them to read I feel talking paints more for the imagination. I hope to take all my strengths and my improved weaknesses into the next year of the course and maybe if I get offered a placement take it into that also.

The future of living
It seems as though in the design of living we are going backwards to go forwards, alot of homes and buildings are being built up around or with nature encoperated within it. so are being made purely from the resources found in the area and other are using nature to help fuel the energy they need. The advantages of this are obvious as it decreases the use of unrenewable sources and helps the environment, but on the other hand the aesthetics of the building are lost, in my opinion. I am all for the helping the environment approach but I would like them to be hidden features and not take the beauty of years of work away.

cockfield project
we have been given 4 weeks to complete a design or design for the place to be refurbished if we succeed in a successful design we could be chosen and our idea could be used for the project. after a brief presentation of the area and then a site visit we began the project after several designs and hours of work I created a model and rendered it and these are my favourite rooms of what I have decided to present.
